eSIM not working abroad? 8 quick fixes
Most eSIM problems abroad are fixed by turning on data roaming for the eSIM line, selecting the eSIM for mobile data, and restarting the phone. If it still doesn't connect, select a network manually and check the APN.
Key facts
- Turn ON data roaming for the eSIM line
- Set the eSIM as your mobile data line
- Restart the phone after landing
- Never delete the eSIM — some can't be reinstalled
Work through these in order
- 1. Turn on data roaming for the eSIM (it is roaming on a partner network).
- 2. Choose the eSIM under Mobile data / Cellular data.
- 3. Turn airplane mode on for 10 seconds, then off.
- 4. Restart your phone.
- 5. Turn off automatic network selection and choose a network manually.
- 6. Check the APN in your eSIM's installation details.
- 7. Make sure you are in a country your plan covers.
- 8. Check that your data hasn't run out — top up if needed.
